Hatfield men spread out across Blackberry Creek.

Tolbert, Pharmer, and Randolph Jr. McCoy flee toward the woods, terrified.
Branches snapping
Boots pounding
Breathless panic
They know the Hatfields are coming.
Tolbert looks back.
Tolbert:
“They’ll kill us if they catch us!”
Pharmer trips.
Randolph Jr. pulls him up.
But it’s too late.
Hatfield men burst through the brush.
Cap Hatfield tackles Tolbert.
Johnse grabs Pharmer.
Devil Anse himself seizes Randolph Jr.
The boys fight, cry, beg — but they’re overwhelmed.

Tied at the Tree
The McCoy boys are dragged to a clearing near Blackberry Creek.
A large sycamore tree stands alone.
Hatfields bind the boys to the trunk with rope — wrists behind them, ankles crossed.

“Save your breath.”
Levicy Hatfield Arrives
Levicy Hatfield walks into the clearing, her face pale, her eyes full of sorrow.
She looks at the boys — then at her husband.

“Anse… don’t do anything till Ellison’s fate is known.”
Devil Anse nods.
He respects her voice — even in rage.
Levicy steps closer to the McCoy boys.
Levicy:

She turns away, wiping tears.

Devil Anse steps forward.

Tolbert sobs.
Pharmer faints.

Devil Anse lowers his head.

The feud is changed forever.

Levicy stands alone at the pawpaw bushes, staring at the ground.
